Julie is a mom and grandma who loves animals. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, library docent, and writing tutor for many years. Julie loves reading picture books to her kids and students, watching their excitement, and hearing their giggles and predictions as each page turns.

Julie’s family has loved visiting Point Vicente in Southern California to hike and observe all of the animals, plants, and scenery. She got the idea to use real animals to write a fiction story one day when her grandson saw a lizard sitting on a rock and started singing, “I’m sitting on my rock!”

Julie’s 11 grandkids call her “G-ma,” and her 6 kids are all adults.
